For most of the NFL Draft process, scouts and executives alike have agreed that Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye are the absolute best quarterback prospects in this class.
So, with QB-needy teams all picking in the top-three, the rest of the league is keeping tabs on more feasible prospects.
That puts Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy in a privileged position, as he’s the fourth-best quarterback in the class, and it feels like he could be gotten.
With that in mind, former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky went as far as to predict that he’s going to be something close to the second coming of Kirk Cousins.
In the latest edition of First Take, the former Detroit Lion raved about McCarthy’s confidence and ability to make difficult things look easy, adding that he can be a ‘stone-cold assassin’ when he needs to be.
“I think he likely is going to play consistently like a Kirk Cousins as a top 10 or so quarterback,” Orlovsky said.

He also said that he’s going to be very similar to Cousins in the sense that he’s going to consistently play like a top-10 quarterback, although he may never actually be top-five.
Truth be told, multiple teams could do a whole lot worse than having a mini Kirk Cousins in their ranks.
Cousins’ throwing abilities have never been doubted, and while he’s never been mobile or the quickest decision-maker, the only actual knock on him has been his lack of success in primetime games and against top-notch teams.
Then again, there’s never something such as a sure thing when it comes to the NFL Draft, and especially not at quarterback, so we shall see.
