After the Las Vegas Raiders removed Antonio Pierce’s interim tag to make him their head coach moving forward, rumors started swirling that former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury would be in line to become the team’s new offensive coordinator.
Things got so close with Kingsbury that some media members started reporting that it was basically a done deal and that he would be the offensive coordinator in Las Vegas.
Then, in a strange twist, Kingsbury pulled out of contract talks with the Raiders and immediately became the favorite to become the new offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders, replacing Eric Bieniemy.
Ultimately, Kingsbury took the job in the nation’s capital under new head coach Dan Quinn, and now all the questions point to what the struggling NFL franchise will do to address the quarterback position moving forward.
The Commanders will have the opportunity to bring in one of the top quarterbacks in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, with the team owning the No. 2 overall pick, putting them within striking distance to land Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or Jayden Daniels.
With Kingsbury in the fold, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky wonders if he can actually develop a rookie quarterback, via NFL on ESPN.
“Can he develop a quarterback?” Orlovsky asked plainly about Kingsbury.

Even though there’s legitimate doubt about Kingsbury’s ability to develop a young quarterback, Washington seems to be in an ideal position to take a giant leap forward this year, which will put their new offensive coordinator to the test while also providing hope for a bright future in Washington.
It’ll be interesting to see which quarterback the team ends up with and if Kingsbury is the right person for the job.
