New Washington Commanders head coach made waves recently for wearing a controversial shirt with the team logo that also had a Native American headdress on it.
The franchise changed their name from the controversial Washington Redskins in 2020 to the Washington Football Team.
Then in 2022, they changed their name to the Washington Commanders.
Quinn finally addressed his decision to wear the shirt while chatting with the media.
“I was excited to bridge the past and the present. What a cool privilege that is to do. I also recognize that there’s a lot of layers to that. So, it was a great lesson for me,” Quinn said.

Again, the franchise changed the Redskins name and logo in 2020 after dawning both for over 80 years.
Multiple groups, such as the National Congress of American Indians, complained about the logo labelling it racially insensitive and offensive.
Seeing Dan Quinn give his reasoning for why he wore the shirt was a good thing.
He did not mean it to be offensive in any way.
The Commanders would not hire the kind of person who would do something like that.
Quinn was trying to celebrate the team’s history, but judging by his quotes, he definitely understands that his decision might not have been the wisest of moves.
This will be his 22nd season coaching in the NFL and his 7th as a head coach.
He guided the Atlanta Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance in 2016.
