Arguably the best defensive player left in NFL free agency is officially off the board, with veteran defensive end Danielle Hunter leaving the Minnesota Vikings after eight seasons to join the Houston Texans and rising stars C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr.
As if coming off an incredible season in which no one expected the Texans to do much of anything wasn’t special enough, Houston really looks like it is building a true title contender that might be able to stand the test of time, especially with Stroud under center.
The Texans were already a force to be reckoned with, as DeMeco Ryans’ squad proved in the NFL playoffs with the upset win over the Cleveland Browns, but now the team has become a draw for big-name free agents, with Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport confirming Houston’s addition of Hunter.

At 29 years old, Hunter is coming off arguably his best season in the NFL with the Vikings, as he recorded a career-high 16.5 sacks to go along with two passes defensed, four forced fumbles, and 54 solo tackles.
Hunter is the ideal addition to a young team that desperately needs some veteran leadership with the team looking like a legitimate force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future.
With Hunter in the fold and Anderson and Stroud seemingly destined to get better with more time on the field, the Texans will be a team to watch once again during the 2024 NFL season, as this team might very well be a Super Bowl title contender.
