The Carolina Panthers have a quarterback for the future, or at least they hope.
New head coach Dave Canales has raved about having the opportunity to work side-by-side with Bryce Young.
He claimed that he wants to make his life easy, adding that he doesn’t have to be special on every play.
That’s why bringing veteran competition might not be on his to-do list right now, especially if that veteran happens to be a former Super Bowl champion.
Recently, Kay Adams interviewed Canales and asked him about a potential reunion with Russell Wilson, considering their past together with the Seattle Seahawks (via Up & Adams).
“This is not the situation for Russ,” Canales said.

Notably, Canales was quick to dismiss that narrative, stating that this wasn’t the situation for Wilson.
However, it wasn’t a shot at his former quarterback.
Instead, he went out of his way to praise him for his decision to bet on himself and leave his comfort zone.
Truth be told, Wilson still has plenty left in the tank, and he’d be an immediate upgrade over Young.
Nonetheless, the Panthers need to stick by their former No. 1 pick.
Wilson should be able to land on his feet somewhere else and get an opportunity to showcase his skills and prove that he’s still far from done.
As for Canales and the Panthers, they’ll hope that Young looks more like the guy he was at Alabama and less the way he looked in his first year in the league.
