It has recently been revealed that the Carolina Panthers will be holding joint practices with the New York Jets this year.
This will be the second consecutive year that the two teams will meet for joint practices in the preseason.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales recently chatted with the Carolina media about his relationship with Jets head coach Robert Saleh and why he chose to hold joint practices with the Jets again.
“We have about a 13 or 14-year relationship…We were able to practice with them last year in Tampa…It’s a great advantage for us because we play so much five-man front…He’s more the traditional 4-3 defense. We need that work,” Canales stated (via Sheena Quick).

As Canales notes, he and Jets head coach Robert Saleh have had a long relationship with one another.
They worked together in Seattle with the Seahawks for three seasons (2011-2013).
The two were both on the 2013 Super Bowl staff.
After 2013, Saleh left to go to Jacksonville, then San Francisco.
Canales was in Seattle from 2010-2022 before going to Tampa Bay for the 2023 season.
Now, it appears as though Canales will cross paths with Saleh once again.
Canales also noted that because of their friendship, they will be able to tone down any fights and arguments that take place on the practice field during the joint practices.
The Jets are looking to get some experience against a hungry team that is looking to start winning.
The Panthers are looking to get some experience against a contending team.
It will be a very intriguing week for both teams later in the summer.
