The Carolina Panthers went the extra mile to get their guy last season.
They traded valuable assets to get their hands on the No. 1 selection in the 2023 NFL Draft and take Bryce Young with it.
However, the Alabama standout struggled mightily during his first year in the league, up to the point where some analysts thought they should’ve benched him to protect him.
Of course, the situation was far from ideal, as he lacked talent around him and his coach was fired midway through his rookie season, but he still left a lot to be desired.
Nonetheless, his new coach, Dave Canales, couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to work with him.
Talking on SiriusXM NFL Radio, he discussed Young as “a guy that’s wired the right way that came back every week and just battled.”

He watched a lot of film on Young and his accuracy stood out, so he’s confident in his ability to build a system around him that allows him to be at his best.
Canales thinks that while Young has the ability to be a special player, he doesn’t need him to be special all the time.
He’s going to bring a fresh and renowned offensive perspective, and he’s found success with struggling quarterbacks before in his career.
It’s never wise to count out a quarterback after his first season, no matter how bad things look, so fans are hoping his new coach can bring out the best of him.
