The Green Bay Packers made a tough decision this year.
It made sense from a financial standpoint, but parting ways with David Bakhtiari was still something that hurt the fans and the locker room.
Bakhtiari was once one of the best offensive tackles in the game.
Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to shake off a knee injury, and he’s barely been able to play over the past couple of seasons.
He’s still a free agent, but according to an interview with ESPN, it’s not like he hasn’t gotten any calls.
Talking to the sports broadcast network, Bakhtiari admitted that he still wanted to play for a little longer and that multiple teams have reached out to him.
However, he wants to make sure that he’s as close to 100% healthy as possible and be there not for depth but for actual playing time (via Rich Cimini):
“My goal right now is just to make sure that I not only fully recover but I can withstand and play the game that I want to play but also play and be there for a team no matter what,” Bakhtiari said. “I’m not a reliever guy, I am your cornerstone guy. Someone that’s not only going to play in September but in December and into February and obviously hopefully for another couple of years.”
Bakhtiari: “I don’t think it’s very wise for any betting man to say that Aaron Rodgers is not going to make the playoffs.”

There were rumors about Aaron Rodgers potentially recruiting him to join him with the New York Jets.
Nonetheless, that just doesn’t seem possible at this time.
Bakhtiari believes the Jets are already set at offensive tackle, and, once again, he doesn’t want to just piggyback ride his way to a championship; he wants to be on the field.
It’s a shame that such a good career may have been cut short by injuries, and he was the kind of player who could’ve spent his entire career with an organization.
Then again, who knows? Perhaps we haven’t seen the last of him and he could still go back to Lambeau Field.
