The National Football League is full of characters.
Some were born that way, and others embrace larger-than-life personas once they get rich and famous.
Notably, it seems like Texas Tech DB prospect Tyler Owens might be a part of the first group.
For months, Owens had made the rounds online for his unmatched speed, being considered one of the fastest prospects in this class.
Now, however, he went viral for different reasons, as he had a rather unusual take on outer space.
Talking to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine, the talented DB claimed that he ‘doesn’t believe in space’ or ‘other planets,’ adding that he feels like flat-earth theories have some ‘valid points’ and are ‘very interesting’ (via Dov Kleiman).

Owens played three seasons at Texas before transferring to Texas Tech in 2022.
He excelled as a fifth-year senior, logging two pass breakups and 30 tackles and impressing scouts with his speed and acceleration.
He recently claimed that he expects his 40-yard dash to be ‘in the 4.2s somewhere.’
Should that be the case, then NFL scouts might have no problem looking the other way and taking him despite his unorthodox beliefs.
Who knows? Perhaps the New York Jets could look to add even more firepower to their already impressive defense and take a chance on him.
