The Cleveland Browns had a revolving door at quarterback in 2023 and somehow went 11-6 despite using five QBs to get through the season following Deshaun Watson’s shoulder injury that required surgery and put him out for the year.
Everyone in the organization is hoping that the team only needs its QB1 next year and nobody else, and a new report says that possibility is becoming more and more likely.
Around The NFL shared that Watson told The Athletic’s Zac Jackson he is now “throwing full speed,” which is a major update in his recovery that should get him on track to be ready for Week 1.

Watson added he will participate in OTAs at some level, but ultimately his main focus is on being completely ready for training camp.
The Browns haven’t gotten much of a return on their investment in Watson just yet, as he has played 12 games and put up 2,217 passing yards and 14 touchdowns with nine interceptions.
He hasn’t yet shown glimpses in Cleveland of the player he was with the Houston Texans before his lengthy suspension and Browns fans would love it if he could get close to his 2020 production where he threw for 4,823 yards on a 70.2 percent completion percentage with 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.
It’s great to hear Watson’s shoulder is healing well, as this team desperately needed stability at QB last season and was fortunate to get hot when Joe Flacco took over.
The Flacco run was fun, but this franchise needs Watson to be great.
