The Arizona Diamondbacks have played seven games in the 2023 postseason so far.
They won the first five, which represented sweeps in the best-of-three Wild Card round and the best-of-five Division Series; against the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers, respectively.
However, they have dropped the last two and those happen to be Games 1 and 2 of the National League Championship Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
At least Game 1 was competitive, but the second one was embarrassing for the D-Backs.
They couldn’t even score a run on Tuesday, and conceded a whopping ten.
“The Diamondbacks have been shut out for the first time in their postseason history,” Talkin’ Baseball tweeted.

Aaron Nola, the Phillies’ starter, dominated them for six innings in which he surrendered just three hits and no walks, striking out seven batters.
Then, Philadelphia’s bullpen went to work and tossed three scoreless frames to complete the shutout.
Jeff Hoffman, Matt Strahm, and Orion Kerkering pitched one inning each to finish the feat.
Besides their famous 2001 postseason run, Arizona doesn’t have an extensive playoff history.
Including 2023, they have made it into October seven times.
However, they hadn’t been shut out until Tuesday.
After dominating the Brewers and Dodgers, Corbin Carroll, the team’s best hitter, has gone a bit cold in the first two games against the Phillies.
In fact, only Ketel Marte has more than one hit in the League Championship Series for the D-Backs, with three.
The rest?
One or none.
It’s just two games, but Arizona is averaging 1.5 runs per game against the Phillies.
It’s hard to win that way.
