With DJ Moore long gone, the Carolina Panthers needed a new WR1.
They got one in Diontae Johnson, who also needed a fresh start after his days with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now, Johnson is looking forward to getting a clean slate in Charlotte, and he hinted at rocking a new number.
“That 5 gon look good on me,” Johnson said.

More than that, the fans will hope that he gets into the endzone more often than he did during his days in Pittsburgh.
Johnson has the physical traits to be a dominant wideout, but his production left a lot to be desired.
Needless to say, plenty of that had to do with the Steelers’ subpar offense, so there’s still a chance he can get his career back on track.
The Panthers hired QB guru and former offensive coordinator Dave Canales to try and make the most of Bryce Young’s talents, but they also needed to get him more help.
Johnson should instantly become his No. 1 target, with veteran Adam Thielen taking a backseat.
They also need their offensive line to take a major step forward and Miles Sanders to make a bigger impact, all while they hope that Young can improve with a new offensive scheme and playbook.
As for the Steelers, losing one of the few talented pass-catchers they had on the team should be a big blow, but they should still fare much better offensively with their revamped QB room.
