The Chicago Bears will have an interesting decision to make regarding the future of quarterback Justin Fields this offseason.
After they secured the No. 1 overall pick, the Bears are in a position to potentially draft Fields’ replacement, draft someone else, or trade the pick away to a team that wants to draft a quarterback like Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.
Fields looked better this season and has already won as many games in one season as he did in the previous two seasons combined; but that might not be enough to convince the Bears’ front office to keep him around, especially with his fifth-year option deadline looming this spring.
Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore, who joined the team in the blockbuster trade that sent the 2023 No. 1 pick to the Carolina Panthers, already publicly endorsed keeping Fields for the 2024 season.
“He is him … I want him to be the quarterback,” Moore told the Chicago Sun-Times via Fox Sports. “Now it’s to the higher-ups.”

Moore established a great rapport with Fields in their first season together with career-highs in receiving yards and touchdown receptions.
That relationship could prove to Bears management that Fields is able to compete at a high level with good talent around him, but his entire body of work isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement after three years of inconsistent play and not a lot of winning.
Chicago has a few more months before they’ll need to make a decision, which should give the team enough time to gather more information on draft prospects as well as the value of Fields or the No. 1 pick on the trade market.
