Clayton Kershaw is a Los Angeles Dodgers legend.
Well, he is an MLB legend for what it’s worth, regardless of the team he played for in the past and the one who will get his signature in the upcoming free agency.
Only special pitchers have a 2.48 career ERA in 2,712.2 innings, with multiple Cy Youngs, a World Series title, and even an MVP award.
Kershaw is, however, injured.
He underwent left shoulder surgery and will be out until the summer.
It’s a long recovery for the veteran lefty.
However, the pitching-starved Dodgers said, through their president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, that shoulder surgery won’t deter the team from attempting to re-sign the future Hall of Famer, per Fabian Ardaya.
Clayton Kershaw’s shoulder surgery won’t impact the Dodgers’ potential pursuit of a reunion, Andrew Friedman said today. Shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

The Dodgers know that they may not have Kershaw back until July, perhaps even August, but they want him on their team, as has been the case since 2008.
Kershaw is technically able to sign with any team.
However, if the Dodgers come calling, they will have an obvious preference in his heart.
Still, regardless of if they can re-sign Kershaw or not, they need to incorporate multiple hurlers to their roster.
Dustin May is recovering from major surgery just like Kershaw, Lance Lynn is a free agent, and Julio Urias probably threw his last pitch as a Dodger.
They can’t just rely on Bobby Miller and Ryan Pepiot: they need to get creative and bring in multiple arms.
Then, if both parties agree, Kershaw could theoretically rehab in familiar surroundings and return for the stretch run.
