The Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres officially opened spring training action on Thursday in Peoria, Arizona.
In what was a preview of the Seoul Series on March 20, the two NL West teams went to Peoria Stadium and decided to show their talent to hungry fans who had been without baseball for months.
The Dodgers, however, were the ones impressing fans after a furious offensive outburst that culminated in a 14-1 win.
MLB insider Bob Nightengale was very much excited about the Dodgers’ offensive potential and came through with some stats and facts about Thursday’s showing.
“The Dodgers living up to the hype. They spend 26 minutes at the plate in the top of the first, torching the Padres for 8 runs,” he tweeted.

Eight runs in the first inning is actually shockingly good, but given the names on the Dodgers’ roster, we shouldn’t be surprised.
The organization went out and brought in Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez, and Manuel Margot for the lineup alone, and they are getting back Gavin Lux, too.
On Thursday, L.A. mercilessly attacked one of the best pitchers in the National League, Joe Musgrove.
Musgrove was chased out after failing to get an out.
He conceded four runs on two hits and a walk before departing.
Even though Ohtani didn’t play, there was no shortage of names and top performers.
Mookie Betts drew two walks, Hernandez hit a two-run double, Lux had a hit, a walk, and a run, and Chris Taylor, James Outman, Trey Sweeney, and many others crossed the plate at least once.
Kevin Padlo went yard, too.
The lineup didn’t even include projected starters Max Muncy, Jason Heyward, or Will Smith.
It was just a spring training game, but the Dodgers are looking scary.
