The Los Angeles Dodgers are destined to make history in 2024.
They have put together an incredibly talented team, led by former MVPs Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman.
However, we all assumed they were bound to break some records related to good performance.
What most people didn’t foresee is that they are bound to have off games, too.
In this case, the pitching staff was historically wild.
“The Dodgers have walked 14 batters in a game for the fourth time in franchise history. First time in 62 years,” Dodgers insider Fabian Ardaya tweeted on Sunday.

It’s okay to walk a hitter every once in a while, but doing so 14 times in a game is a very bad look for the staff as a whole and for starting pitcher James Paxton.
It hadn’t happened to the Dodgers in 62 years.
Paxton alone accounted for eight of those bases on balls, against just one strikeout.
The San Diego Padres ended up winning the game, 6-3, because the Dodgers gave them every chance to get some traffic on the bases.
Besides Paxton’s eight walks, J.P. Feyereisen and Alex Vesia had two each, and Ryan Brasier and Nick Ramirez both had one.
Every hurler that stepped on the mound for the Dodgers on Sunday night gave up at least one walk.
If you think about it, the fact LA conceded just six runs having walked 14 batters is a small miracle.
These things cannot happen on a consistent basis to any MLB team, especially the Dodgers.
They have World Series aspirations, so they can’t walk the game away.
