The Jacksonville Jaguars gave Trevor Lawrence a new weapon.
With Calvin Ridley leaving to join the Tennessee Titans, they needed someone else to bolster their receiving corps.
Gabe Davis could be slated for a big role in Doug Pederson’s offense.
Talking to the Florida Times-Union, Coach Pederson lauded Davis’ versatility, comparing him to a Swiss Army knife, and stating that he can make an impact at all three levels of the defense (via Around the NFL):
“Gabe is, to me, like a Swiss Army knife. He can obviously run routes, the guy is right around 81-82 targets a year for the last four years if you average them out. He’s a big part of the offense in Buffalo,” Pederson said.

The Jaguars signed him to a three-year deal worth $39 million, and his career numbers certainly back up this decision.
Despite not being a high-profile or highly-touted guy, he’s tied for 14th with 27 touchdown receptions since entering the league in 2020.
He also has the third-most deep play receiving touchdowns (17) in the league during that span, including the playoffs.
The former Buffalo Bills wideout averages 16.7 yards per catch per his career, which is also first in the league over that span.
Nonetheless, he also goes ice-cold as quickly as he could get red-hot, going entire games without a single catch, and that’s obviously going to be a major concern and point of emphasis in Jacksonville.
Still, Davis is the kind of player who can make an impact that goes beyond the stat sheet.
With his big frame, he’s an elite blocker at his position, a physical presence who can hold his own at the line of scrimmage, and that should help open up more lanes for the running game.
