The 2024 NFL Draft is slated to be filled with players who could make instant impacts on rosters.
While there are great players at every position, this year’s class is said to be one of the best in recent history for wide receivers and quarterbacks.
If recent mock drafts hold up, there could be at least four quarterbacks in the first round, including UNC product, Drake Maye.
Maye’s draft stock rose throughout his final season at UNC, a result of his current standing as one of the best prospective quarterbacks.
Maye recently spoke with Adam Schefter, talking about prospective landing spots, especially the Washington Commanders, where his old teammate, Sam Howell, plays.
He called Howell “one of” his best friends, indicating that Howell was a great mentor to him during their time together in college.

Maye seems to have a lot of respect for Howell as a person, which could make it hard for him if the Commanders do draft him.
The Commanders currently have the No. 2 overall pick.
If they are not confident in Howell’s abilities moving forward, they could make a move for Maye in this spot.
There are still a lot of moving pieces to fall into place ahead of the draft, including the Combine.
Depending on how Maye performs at the Combine, he could either raise his standing with the Commanders or perhaps have his value fall, after teams see his measurables and overall performance.
The next several weeks should be very telling, as teams will start to reveal their plans for the 2024 season.
