It’s been a slow start to the MLB season for the San Diego Padres.
Following their 1-1 split with the Los Angeles Dodgers, they’ve dropped two out of three vs. the San Francisco Giants in their home opening series.
Notably, not even having a prime fan in attendance was enough for them to be inspired and rally past the Giants in this divisional clash.
As shown by FOX Sports MLB, NFL legend Drew Brees was at PETCO Park rooting for them.

Brees was born and raised in Texas before committing to play at Purdue.
Then, even though most people don’t remember, he actually spent the first years of his NFL career with the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers, so it makes sense that he grew fond of the team during his time in town.
The Padres have gone the extra mile to put together a competitive squad over the past four years or so, but to no avail.
They were expected to battle with the Dodgers for the NL supremacy, but they haven’t been able to establish themselves as the powerhouse most analysts expected them to become.
It’s still early in the season, so there’s still a chance that they finally live up to the expectations and put an end to their well-documented postseason woes.
As for Brees, he’s considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and more than one team would welcome him back with open arms, even at this age and after being retired for a while now.
