After starting last season 10-1, the Philadelphia Eagles suffered an epic collapse that culminated with them losing in the wild-card round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
But they are poised to bounce back this year with the addition of star running back Saquon Barkley and a new defensive coordinator in Vic Fangio.
They will start the 2024 regular season on Sept. 6 versus the upstart Green Bay Packers, and while the Packers have a good shot at making the playoffs again this year, the Eagles are the most bet on team in the league for Week 1, per ESPN BET.

In addition to bringing in Barkley as a free agent, the Eagles signed 26-year-old defensive end Bryce Huff, who emerged last season with 10.0 sacks as a member of the New York Jets.
They could be weak at linebacker after trading two-time Pro Bowler Haason Reddick, but they also took two promising cornerbacks in last month’s draft: Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
Defense was the bone of contention for Philly last season — even before their collapse in December, there were reasons for concern, as they were having to come from behind on the regular in order to win games.
They finished just 30th in points allowed after they were eighth in that category and second in total yards allowed in 2022.
Another thing working in Philly’s favor is the fact that the Dallas Cowboys haven’t exactly had a good offseason while the New York Giants and Washington Commanders don’t look playoff-caliber, which means that Philly could be the favorite to win the NFC East.
