DeVonta Smith made it to the National Football League with sky-high expectations.
He was a two-time national champion and arguably the greatest wide receiver in Alabama history, and it didn’t seem like a reach when the Philadelphia Eagles took him No. 10 in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Smith hasn’t had the same video game-like numbers in the pro, and he took a bit of a step back when A.J. Brown arrived in the City of Brotherly Love.
Even so, he’s still one of the most underrated and productive wide receivers in the game, and the Eagles want him there for the long run.
That’s why they signed him to a three-year contract extension that’ll tie him to the organization through 2028, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Smith is now the fourth Eagle to sign a multi-year contract extension this offseason.
The 2020 Heisman Trophy winner has logged 240 receptions for 3,178 yards and 19 touchdowns in three years with the Eagles.
More than that, he silenced those who doubted his ability to stay on the field because of his skinny and small frame, as he’s only missed one game in his career to date.
The Eagles will continue to have one of the most stacked teams in the NFC next season, and while bouncing back from last year’s disappointing campaign won’t be easy, having a weapon like Smith will always make things easier for Jalen Hurts.
