The 2023 season didn’t pan out as expected for the Philadelphia Eagles.
After losing in the first round of the playoffs, the Eagles used the first part of the offseason to begin shaping their roster for the 2024 campaign, hoping to change their luck moving forward.
One of the players they added was DeVante Parker, a veteran receiver who was slated to provide wisdom and career insight to the younger players on the team.
However, as Adam Schefter has recently reported, Parker has actually decided to retire.
After nine NFL seasons, Eagles WR DeVante Parker has decided to retire, he said Monday night.
As much as he looked forward to his time with the Eagles, Parker decided the time had come to spend more time with his family that includes his four children.

As Parker said via Schefter, “I want to see my kids, spend quality time with them. I want to be there for them whenever I can.”
This decision was clearly difficult for Parker, but it seems to be the best thing for him and his family, judging by these comments.
He’s not the only Eagle to retire recently; the team also saw Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox announce they were retiring.
Parker might not have played a snap for the Eagles, but the team is now missing three players that they were expecting to roll into the 2024 season.
They’ll now have to figure out how to replace the production from these three athletes, which puts them in another difficult position.
The Eagles have been one of the best, most consistent teams in the NFC over the past several years.
They might have hit a roadblock last season and with these retirees, but they seem to find ways to get back on track.
Will that be the case for the 2024 season?
