The San Francisco 49ers are one win away from putting an end to their Super Bowl drought.
That wouldn’t have been possible if it hadn’t been for Brock Purdy’s play.
However, several analysts and even players continue to try and take him down, holding his draft position against him and calling him a system quarterback.
Ironically, former NFL QB Eli Manning believes that’s actually a compliment.
Recently, the two-time Super Bowl champion shared his thoughts on Purdy, stating that he’s already proven that he’s a very good quarterback, adding that being called a ‘system quarterback’ means that he’s actually learned the system and mastered it (via Coach Yac).
“I think Brock’s proven himself to be a great quarterback in the NFL & will continue to get better. The system quarterback thing, I think that’s a compliment. That means you know your system & you’ve mastered it,” Manning said.

That makes perfect sense, especially coming from a guy who was also quite polarizing during his playing days.
One might or might not think that Eli Manning is worthy of a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he did lead his team to two Super Bowl wins against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, of all people.
The same thing could happen with former Mr. Irrelevant.
He’s got the numbers, he’s got the wins, and he’s close to also getting the ring, yet he doesn’t have the respect he’s earned and deserved for the way he’s played since he made his professional debut.
Purdy still has a ways ahead of him to prove the doubters wrong, but he can take a huge step in that direction by taking over and having the best game of his career on Sunday night.
