The 2023 NFL season is nearly over as Super Bowl LVIII is set to take place in less than two weeks.
Aside from the championship festivities between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs, the rest of the league has been busy with the coaching carousel.
This time around, there were several interesting head coaching positions and numerous candidates to fill them.
Teams like the Los Angeles Chargers made a splash with Jim Harbaugh, while the Atlanta Falcons reunited with an old coordinator in Raheem Morris to become their head coach.
Meanwhile, former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick remains on the market despite taking multiple interviews.
An NFL sideline without Belichick on it is hard to imagine but Eric Mangini believes the reality is in play via First Things First.
“It’s definitely on the board,” Mangini said.
.@getnickwright: Is it on the board that Bill Belichick won’t be a head coach again?

Mangini notes that older coaches like Belichick are generally set in their ways and adjust slower than some of their younger peers, and it’s a valid point.
In the past few seasons in New England, Belichick didn’t seem to have as many answers during their rough patches and that bore out in 2023.
After the Seattle Seahawks hired Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, the Washington Commanders became the only team hiring for a head coach.
Belichick has been linked to Washington in the past, though it seems like they’re looking for a more offensive-minded person.
The Commanders were turned down by their favorite choice in Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, so perhaps that’s all Belichick needs to land the gig.
