The Cleveland Browns were one of the best teams in the league after the first ten weeks, getting some huge wins and even taking down some legitimate contenders.
Judging by their performances, their record, and the remainder of their schedule, ESPN Analytics had given them an 80% chance to make the playoffs.
Now, with Deshaun Waston’s season-ending injury, those chances dropped to 63%.
On top of that, the Houston Texans went from 54% to 58%, the Pittsburgh Steelers went from 55% to 58%, and the Cincinnati Bengals went from 36% to 39%, via ESPN Stats & Info.
Due to Deshaun Watson’s injury, ESPN Analytics has dropped the Browns from an 80% chance to make the playoffs to 63%.
In addition, these team’s chances have increased:

The Browns will roll with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson in their divisional clash vs. the Steelers, with veteran XFL star P.J. Walker as his backup.
The Texans have been balling out, with C.J. Stroud looking like the real deal, and the team going way ahead of schedule in terms of their chances to compete.
And with the Browns potentially out of the picture, it would be shocking to see them not making it to the postseason, as they could even end up taking down the Jacksonville Jaguars for their division.
The Steelers haven’t played well, but they continue to find ways to win games, and they’re not that far behind the Browns, so they could obviously benefit from this.
Last but not least, the Bengals need to be almost flawless for the remainder of the campaign if they want to make the playoffs after such a slow start to the season.
But even if they have less than 50% odds of reaching the promised land, with the Browns likely regressing, they could make the most of it.
