The Atlanta Falcons have officially found their new head coach.
After conducting interviews with several prospective candidates, most fans believed the team was going after Bill Belichick.
Belichick hadn’t interviewed with any other teams, and signs seemed to point to Atlanta as the best destination for him.
However, the team decided to go in another, more personal direction.
They ended up hiring Raheem Morris, who worked for the Falcons from 2015 to 2020.
Morris held several roles within the organization, eventually becoming their interim head coach in 2020.
While many believed he would get the head coaching gig after the 2020 campaign, the team has now come around, giving him another chance.
Team owner Arthur Blank had nothing but positive things to say about Morris, calling it “a historic day for the Atlanta Falcons.”

Blank also noted the team’s search for a new coach, ultimately saying, “We are thrilled to welcome Raheem Morris back to Atlanta as the team’s head coach.”
The Falcons were viewed as one of the most ideal landing spots for any head coaching prospect.
They have several young, talented skill-position players, a group that some consider the best young group in the league.
The team made significant investments in their defense ahead of the 2023 season, which should set up Morris for success in Year 1.
It will be interesting to see how this team performs in 2024, and if Morris will instill a system and culture that allows them to perform to their fullest potential.
The NFC South appears to be wide open moving forward, giving the Falcons a legitimate chance to claim the title next year if everything works out according to plan.
