The Oakland Athletics moved one step closer to Las Vegas on Thursday, when owners approved their relocation unanimously.
It’s just the latest step in a series of steps, but the move is still by no means official.
They still need to get private funding to build the stadium, among numerous other things.
This didn’t stop the A’s from making a rather insensitive post, “celebrating” their “move” to Vegas.
Vegas’ Sphere welcomed the A’s to their city, and the team posted it on Twitter.

As you can probably expect, comments and replies absolutely roasted the franchise.
You should be ashamed of this post

Not even an A’s fan and I’m disgusted by this post

That’s so weak. Did Oakland dirty

On top of taking the team away from the city of Oakland, A’s owner John Fisher and the organization as a whole approved this tweet.
They had to know it would’t be well-received, and we can’t even reproduce some of the things said in the replies in this space.
Fisher has been seeking a move from Oakland for a long time now, and has blamed it on fans even though he routinely fields the cheapest payrolls in the league.
When the team has been competitive, fans have shown their support in the stadium.
But greed is a powerful agent in many cases.
The memories gathered over the years, the four World Series championships, the stars who played in Oakland, all of that mattered very little for Fisher, Commissioner Rob Manfred, and those behind the move.
If everything goes according to Fisher’s plan, they will be playing home games in Vegas by 2028.
It appears he will get his way after all.
