The New England Patriots are no longer the dynasty that fans have become accustomed to as they’ve been a dumpster fire of a football team during the 2023 NFL season.
The Patriots offense has been one of the worst units in the league as they’ve got the weakest pass-catching corps coupled with inconsistent quarterback play.
Mac Jones started the season as the starter but after multiple poor performances he was benched for backup Bailey Zappe.
Zappe actually looked like a competent quarterback in the team’s Week 14 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night football, throwing three touchdowns in the first half.
However, despite the win the Patriots were eliminated from postseason contention after more of the Week 14 games played out.
Head coach Bill Belichick has now missed the postseason two years in a row and opposing fans had a field day with the news via PFF.

We had to go through a season like this to get back to contention now we can get one of the top two QBs

New England has ruined the championship hopes of numerous teams over the past two decades and now that they’re on the wrong end of the standings those people are having their day in the sun.
Belichick’s future with the organization is suddenly in question as team owner Robert Kraft has to strongly consider whether or not it’s time to get a new voice on the sidelines and in the locker room.
For now, though, the Patriots will get a chance to start working on their 2024 NFL Draft prep earlier than expected.
New England might have their choice at one of the quarterback prospects at the top of the draft, giving them an excellent opportunity to hit the reset button on the roster.
