The Texas Rangers and star slugger Adolis Garcia appeared headed toward an arbitration meeting.
Those can get really ugly and, as we saw with the Milwaukee Brewers and Corbin Burnes, can end up being detrimental.
Fortunately, for the parties involved, there was another way of avoiding the hearing: by agreeing to sign a two-year deal that would cover Garcia’s first and second arbitration campaigns.
His salary for 2026, his last season of arbitration eligibility, will be determined when the time comes.
For now, the reigning World Series champs and one of their most important players will sign a two-year deal.
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, Garcia will get $14 million guaranteed in the next two seasons and will be able to make up to $20.25 million with incentives.
Fans spoke their minds about the deal on Twitter.
Some fans blame the Rangers for not being able to lock him up to a long-term deal:

Garcia just had his best season as a major league player, with 39 home runs and a .836 OPS.
He also scored 108 runs and drove in 107, with nine steals.
In the postseason, he hit eight additional dingers and wrote his name in Rangers history with his timely blasts.
Fans are ecstatic to watch him play for two more years, and he has another one with the Rangers after his current two-year pact expires.
Garcia has become one of the most feared sluggers in the game and proved his worth to the Rangers with an incredible 2023.
Now, he is getting the biggest payday of his life.
