The Miami Dolphins‘ defense suffered a big blow in the offseason.
Newly acquired star CB Jalen Ramsey suffered a worrisome knee injury.
And while the ailment wasn’t as gruesome as originally thought, he was still expected to miss plenty of time.
Now, the former Los Angeles Rams star seems to be way ahead of schedule in his recovery from knee surgery.
According to Cameron Wolfe, he’s going to return to practice today, which opens the 21-day window for his actual and official return to the field.
Ramsey was initially expected to come back at some point in December, which would be a normal timeline for someone who suffered a meniscus injury in the first week of training camp.
That’s why the fans took to Twitter to react to this somewhat surprising news and talk about his potential impact on Mike McDaniel’s team.
Cheifs game! Book it!

I don’t get out our defense can be so bad even without Ramsey.

Chiefs game would be an ideal time if he’s not rushed back. Be smart about this and our 2nd half of the year will be set up perfectly! #finsup

Amazing! Of course the national media is focused on Rodgers’ recovery as Ramsey’s recovery goes under the radar.

They should mimic a preseason. Warm up. He should practice the next two weeks but not see any playing time. if he looks good, perhaps give him a quarter or a half against the Chiefs before resting the bye week and coming back full-time against the Raiders.

Notably, the Dolphins have the best and most explosive offense in the entire NFL, but their pass defense has struggled at times.
Ramsey is still one of the prime defensive backs in the league, and even if he’s not in his prime anymore, he should provide this group with a big boost.
One of the best ball-hawks of his generation, Ramsey has made a living out of guarding some of the most explosive wideouts in the game.
He was looking forward to making his debut with the Dolphins after arriving in the offseason, and it seems like we won’t have to wait that long before we see him put the pads on.
