While there was some mild optimism from the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ camp coming into this season about their prospects, some weren’t buying it based on what looked to be a substandard roster.
But they currently hold a very solid 4-2 record, and true to their gritty tradition, they’re finding ways to rise above the level of their talent on paper.
While the Steelers have one of the best pass rushers in the business in T.J. Watt, their pass defense has struggled overall, and an upgrade in the secondary would help them solidify their chances of making the playoffs this winter.
Former executive Steve Keim told Colin Cowherd that the Steelers should make a run at Denver Broncos star cornerback Patrick Surtain II.

Surtain is only in his third season, but he is a prime-time corner, and so far this season, he has seven passes defended and one interception.
Last season, he was named to both the Pro Bowl and All-Pro First Team while posting 10 passes defended and two interceptions.
The Broncos are going through another lost season, and Surtain is just one of multiple key players whose names have come up in trade rumors, as some feel the team should cut its losses and hit the proverbial reset button.
The price for Surtain is sure to be steep, especially considering how young he is, but the fact that he’s just 23 years of age means his timeline would match that of some of Pittsburgh’s other key players while allowing them the time to go out and either draft or find more pieces.
