The San Francisco 49ers have several massive contract decisions to make over the coming months.
One of the most pressing contract situations has revolved around Brandon Aiyuk, who is rumored to be frustrated with the front office.
Aiyuk is viewed as one of the best young receivers in the league, but he has yet to be signed to a long-term deal.
The same can be said about Brock Purdy, who has exceeded expectations in his first two seasons in the league.
He, too, is said to be looking for a contract extension, especially since he was a seventh-round pick and isn’t making much money at the moment.
Mike Tannenbaum recently appeared in a segment of the NFL on ESPN, talking about what a future conversation could look like between Purdy and the 49ers.
Tannebaum illustrated that the front office could say, “We’re not going to put you at the top of the market, because, again, we can wait at least two years.”

Tannenbaum does believe the 49ers will give Purdy an extension in the near future, but illustrated that the team could wait a few years to pay him top dollar.
In the meantime, Purdy could still get a sizable contract, especially in comparison to what he’s making on his rookie deal.
By not paying Purdy a top-five quarterback salary, as Tannenbaum mentions, the 49ers can continue to invest in other positions, hoping to surround Purdy with great talent and give the 49ers the best opportunity to win the Super Bowl in the next few years.
