The Detroit Lions are coming off arguably the best season in franchise history.
They were some questionable coaching decisions away from reaching the Super Bowl, and they’re now thirsty for revenge.
Recently, star DE Aidan Hutchinson claimed that he felt like this was their year to get to the next level and win the whole thing.
With that in mind, former NFL star Ryan Shazier claimed that he actually agreed with Hutchinson to some degree.
During an appearance on The Carton Show, Shazier stated that he definitely sees the Lions as a powerhouse and a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
“I definitely feel like they’re a top team in the NFC and they’re definitely a contender.”

Nonetheless, he also thinks they need to step up on the defensive end of the field, as the offense led the way last season, but the defense wasn’t quite there yet.
Plaxico Burress chimed in by stating that Super Bowl contenders are most likely top-ten teams on both offense and defense, and that wasn’t the case with the Lions.
Detroit made some big moves to get better in that regard going forward, and another season together and with Dan Campbell leading the way might be what this team needs to get to the next level.
Of course, they won’t have it easy, not even in their own division, as the Green Bay Packers and maybe even the Chicago Bears could also be in the mix for a postseason berth.
This team is fun to watch and don’t be shocked if they reach the final game of the season in 2025.
