The New York Jets found out their opponent for the season opener, and it wasn’t pretty.
Robert Saleh’s team will have to travel to the Bay Area for a Week 1 date with the San Francisco 49ers for the first Monday Night Football game of the season.
Fortunately for them, Levi’s Stadium features natural grass instead of turf, so Aaron Rodgers might be able to stay on the field for more than four snaps.
However, as improved as the Jets might be ahead of the upcoming campaign, they’re still about to open the season against the best team in the NFC.
That’s why former NFL star Plaxico Burress believes they’re in for a tough time.
Talking on “The Carton Show,” he even predicted they would lose this game.
“I think they lose the game.”

That’s not much of a hot take.
The Niners are fresh off a trip to the Super Bowl, and they’ll have all their core of stars coming back this season.
Also, Rodgers has rarely found any success against the team he grew up rooting for.
Still, the Jets are no pushovers.
They have a championship-caliber defense, and they finally have a quarterback.
Moreover, they made some key additions to the offensive line, not to mention Mike Williams becoming another weapon for their Hall of Famer quarterback.
If anything, it’s better to get this matchup out of the way at the beginning of the season as opposed to meeting them midway through the campaign.
So, even if they drop this game, Jets fans still have plenty to look forward to in the upcoming campaign.
