The San Francisco 49ers have gone out of their way to put together the single-best team in the National Football League.
They didn’t even need a lot of help last season, and they added Christian McCaffrey.
Then, just for the sake of it, they added Chase Young to their defensive juggernaut.
All things considered, the Niners have absolutely everything they need to get to the big game, and they’ve proved it by demolishing their two best rivals in the NFC: The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
Then again, we’ve seen them fold under pressure way too many times already, as they’ve been strong Super Bowl contenders for years now, albeit they never had a behemoth of a team like the one they have nowadays.
That’s why, talking on The Carton Show, former Super Bowl champion Plaxico Burress argued that the only thing that could hold them back from winning the Vince Lombardi trophy is poor QB play.
“If the 49ers don’t make it to the Super Bowl, Brock Purdy will be the main reason why.”

Brock Purdy has been heavily scrutinized this season, and some still don’t believe he’s the right guy to lead that team back to the promised land.
He’s bounced back after losses and has been fairly efficient, executing the Niners’ system at the highest level we’ve seen any QB in the Kyle Shanahan era.
The Niners look like the team to beat in the league right now, but we’ve seen them struggle when they’re not at full strength, so it could all go down the drain in a heartbeat if their QB isn’t up to the task.
