The San Francisco 49ers will be coming off their bye week on Sunday, as they are slated to face Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars in an effort to end their three-game losing streak.
After imposing their will on their opponents during the first five weeks of the season, the 49ers are in desperate need of a win in order to get back on track as one of the best all-around teams in the league.
Even though there’s a lot of football left to be played for San Francisco, this will be a statement game for the 49ers, as they will be facing a tough Jaguars squad that was able to turn their season around after a rough start.
Despite the fact that the offense has gotten a lot of criticism for the three consecutive losses, and rightfully so, former NFL star LeSean McCoy thinks it’s the defense that needs to show up on Sunday to help the team make the statement that they need to make, as he said on “Speak” on FS1.
The Niners’ defense needs to rebound on Sunday.

Even though the 49ers are supremely talented on offense, with stars like Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle leading the way, McCoy believes the defense is the team’s identity and what makes this team who they are.
It’ll be interesting to see what the 49ers can do on Sunday, as they will be under more pressure than any team in the league this week to come out with a win, or this squad might get written off with a fourth straight loss.
