The Houston Texans were the most improved team in the league last season, and it wasn’t even close.
They went from bottom-feeders to winning a playoff game, and it was far from a fluke.
Now, GM Nick Caserio has doubled down on this project by making several notable additions to the roster on both sides of the football this offseason.
That’s why former NFL player Jason McCourty went out of his way to praise the Texans.
Talking on Good Morning Football, he praised Caserio for being aggressive last season to trade up and get both CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. in the NFL Draft.
“The Houston Texans, I believe, are a real contender in the AFC,” McCourty said.

He also believes that DeMeco Ryans has been instrumental in turning the franchise’s culture around.
He sees him as the kind of head coach that all players love to play for, which is also a big reason why plenty of them chose the Texans, of all teams, in free agency.
The former defensive player also thinks that Stroud and Anderson will take a big leap in year two, now that they’re already familiar with the system, the scheme, the playbook, and the perks and demands of being an NFL player.
McCourty claimed that as much as he’s not going to say the Texans are a Super Bowl-caliber team right now, and especially not in March, he thinks they have legitimate dark horse potential.
A lot can happen in the next few months, but it’s hard to argue with that.
