Lamar Jackson looks to earn his first Super Bowl appearance in the NFL this weekend when he takes on the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
A win would also be the Baltimore Ravens’ first Super Bowl berth since they won the Lombardi Trophy in 2012.
The Chiefs have proven to be quite formidable even as they finished statistically worse than they have in recent years – mostly because of how well the defense has played recently.
But while Jackson has played like the MVP favorite, former Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan told FanDuel TV’s Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams” show that there is a method to stopping Jackson on the field.
“The Ravens are an incredible team but there’s a formula to beat Lamar,” Lewan said. “Unfortunately, it’s making him go east to west and make him throw the football.”

Lewan would know after his Titans squad beat the No. 1-seeded Ravens during Jackson’s first MVP season in 2019 and almost won again in the 2020 AFC postseason.
Simply put – Jackson is the Ravens offense and their success is bred from what he can do both in and outside the pocket.
His rushing ability is unparalleled and he proved he can effectively pass the ball well in Todd Monken’s offense.
But what Lewan is saying is that Jackson isn’t nearly as good throwing the ball when he scrambles, perhaps because his first instinct is to tuck the ball and evade defenders with his legs rather than try to find an open receiver.
The Chiefs have a good enough defense to try this strategy, but most teams have failed to stop Jackson this year.
