It’s no secret that the Dallas Cowboys’ season ended a lot sooner than they anticipated.
After putting together a dominant regular season where they didn’t lose at home, the Cowboys lost their Wild Card matchup to the Green Bay Packers.
There was much speculation that the Cowboys would make several significant moves in the offseason to bolster their roster for the 2024 season.
Fans have been largely disappointed in the team’s lack of moves, but the team could still turn to the draft to make this team better moving forward.
Leger Douzable recently appeared on a show with the NFL on CBS, where he outlined the “perfect draft” for the Cowboys.
What the Perfect Draft haul looks like for the Cowboys:
(According to @LegerDouzable)Pick 24: Jackson Powers-Johnson, C
Pick 56: Edgerrin Cooper, LB
Pick 87: Bucky Irving, RB
Pick 174: Javon Foster, OT
Pick 216: Myles Cole, DE
Pick: 233: Daijun Edwards, RB
Pick 244: Jaden… pic.twitter.com/Y3q92bZ10X— NFL on CBS (@NFLonCBS) April 15, 2024
In his mind, these picks would greatly aid the Cowboys’ future and allow them an opportunity to succeed in 2024.
Douzable’s first suggestion for the Cowboys is to draft center Jackson Powers-Johnson, the former Oregon offensive lineman.
Powers-Johnson was tasked with protecting Bo Nix last year, a job he took very seriously and succeeded at, for the most part.
Douzable also indicated that the Cowboys could select a linebacker with their second-round pick, going with Edgerrin Cooper from Texas A&M.
Cooper was also an impactful player at Texas A&M, and he already has a lot of familiarity with the state of Texas.
This could be a positive pick-up for the Cowboys, especially considering that having depth on defense is always a good thing.
With Douzable’s recommendations of a “perfect” draft in mind, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out in the coming weeks.
