The Pittsburgh Steelers headed into the 2023 NFL season with high hopes of turning things around once again under longtime head coach Mike Tomlin, with the team having one of the best defenses in the NFL and an offense hoping to take the next step with second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett under center.
Even though the team is sitting above .500 at 7-6 on the season, the 2023 campaign has been a disappointment for the storied franchise, to say the least.
Not only has the offense struggled on a weekly basis, with Pickett being shaky at best when he’s been healthy, but the team seems to be regressing in the second half of the regular season, especially after a second straight loss to a team they should’ve blown out.
In consecutive weeks, the Steelers have lost to two of the worst teams in the league this season, in the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots, which has prompted some backlash.
Former Steelers player Ryan Clark ripped into his former team after the loss to Bill Belichick’s Patriots on Thursday night, via NFL on ESPN.

With the Steelers being one of the most successful franchises in the NFL, Clark’s words will resonate with his former teammates and players who know what the winning culture in Pittsburgh is all about.
Even though the team has really struggled as of late and is currently playing without Pickett, who is dealing with an ankle injury, the Steelers still have an opportunity to make the postseason if they can get back to their winning ways.
