When Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1, the New York Jets and their fans were devastated.
The Jets organization was feeling optimistic for the first time in years as Rodgers brought Super Bowl experience and talent to a roster that had young stars on it waiting to take the leap.
With Rodgers under center, New York believed they could win a championship and change the franchise’s fortunes.
However, the Jets are currently 4-7 and are almost a lock to miss the postseason given the race in the AFC.
Despite that, Rodgers continues to work through his rehab intent on returning before the end of the season.
James Jomes knows Rodgers almost as well as anyone and offered his thoughts on why the quarterback is so motivated to play again this season via Speak.
“I truly believe he feels like he owes Garrett Wilson, his owner, and I truly believe he wants to come back for them,” Jones said.

Garrett Wilson and team owner Woody Johnson would certainly love to see Rodgers back on the field, but Jones notes it doesn’t make much sense given New York’s record.
Jones also makes a good point about making sure Rodgers is fully healthy for the 2024 NFL season where they could make another run at the postseason.
However, as things stand now it feels like Rodgers will somehow find a way to make his return given that he’s returned to the practice field.
New York still needs to evaluate Rodgers, but if he turns in several weeks of practices without a setback then he should be suiting up in the final month.
