Good, talented MLB players stay in the league for several years.
Stars get the love and recognition from the people by doing what they love.
True legends, however, are the ones that share some of their fame, time, and fortune with those who need it the most.
New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has been known through the years for his willingness to share his time and resources with those who made him great: the fans.
He constantly helps the community in more ways than one, and for that, he earned a noble award.
“Francisco Lindor has been named the 2023 Players Trust Philanthropist of the Year by the MLBPA. Lindor: ‘It’s really important to help, to be there, to give back, to share a little bit of light in people’s lives. We are blessed to have a lot of resources, but the blessings don’t really count until we start using it externally,’” SNY Mets tweeted.

The fact that the award is given by the MLBPA, the Players Association, has some extra meaning because it’s the players – his colleagues – who are the ones recognizing him.
Per SNY, the Mets star “will be honored at tonight’s Playmakers Classic, an event that ‘celebrates MLB Players’ commitment to catalyzing positive change far and wide.’”
The player also earned a $25,000 donation to the Francisco Lindor Scholarship Fund, so the good news isn’t stopping.
It’s always great when young kids benefit from the league and its stars.
In this case, the Scholarship Fund helps lots of kids to cover school expenses.
You can’t put a price on education, and Lindor is certainly investing in his community’s well-being.
On the field, he is coming off one of his best seasons in recent memory, with 31 home runs, 31 stolen bases, and a .806 OPS.
Oh, and he displayed his excellent defense at short, too.
Lindor is the complete package, on and off the field.
