Expectations for the New York Giants were high in 2023 after they went on an impressive run in 2022, which included the franchise’s first playoff win since 2011.
Those expectations were not met, as a depressing 6-11 season followed, highlighted by quarterback Daniel Jones going down with a torn ACL after just six games behind another questionable offensive line.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Jordan Raanan, one of the most expensive members of that line is set to his free agency this offseason.
#Giants plan to release veteran guard Mark Glowinski, sources told @JordanRaanan and me. The release saves $5.7M on the cap.
Glowinski was easily the Giants highest-rated guard this past season, per PFF, 25th overall with a 64.8 grade

Cutting guard Mark Glowinski would save the Giants $5.7 million on the cap.
According to Spotrac, the Giants are currently slated to have about $35.3 million in cap room for 2024, while the vacancy left by Glowinski would push that number over $40 million.
The move doesn’t come as a major surprise to Big Blue fans, as Glowinski, who turns 32 in May, lost his starting job in Week 2 and made only six starts overall in 2023.
It’s a disappointing end to Glowinski’s tenure in New York after he signed a 3-year, $18.3 million before the 2022 season.
Glowinski was a major part of the team’s playoff run in 2022, but after once again finishing with one of the league’s worst offenses, general manager Joe Schoen is quick at work ensuring that doesn’t happen again.
The fact that Glowinski was New York’s highest-rated guard according to PFF this past season is an indictment of just how poorly the line performed.
Keeping Daniel Jones safe is the biggest priority in 2024.
Armed with over $40 million in cap space and the 6th pick in the NFL Draft, the Giants are well-equipped to rebuild this offensive line and get back in the playoff mix.
