Joaquin Niemann has once again launched the year with an impressive victory, claiming the LIV Golf Singapore title, his second triumph in the initial quartet of the 2025 season events. Niemann, who had already clinched the LIV Golf Adelaide title in February, closed the tournament with a commendable -6 (65), securing his top spot at the renowned Sentosa Golf Club.
He managed to outshine Brooks Koepka from Smash GC, who was the runner-up, and Ben Campbell from RangeGoats GC, who secured the third position. Niemann, the captain of Torque GC, now holds four LIV Golf titles, trailing just behind Koepka who has five to his name. Niemann had an impressive run in 2024 as well, having bagged two wins in the first three events and finishing the season in the second position for the individual title.
Reflecting on his win, Niemann commented, “Today was one of those days where everything just fell into place. I felt really focused in the key moments, especially on my tee shots at the beginning of the round.” His diligent focus resulted in a flawless final round, marked by six birdies, which paved the way for his win with a five-shot lead.
Meanwhile, the team standings saw the Fireballs GC, led by captain Sergio Garcia, dominate for the third week in a row. Their combined score of -10 from Garcia (71), David Puig (66), Abraham Ancer (69), and Luis Masaveu (68) ensured they clinched the title with a total of -22. They finished three shots ahead of second-place Legion XIII and four shots ahead of third-place 4Aces GC.
Regarded as one of the most anticipated events in the LIV Golf League calendar, LIV Golf Singapore is set to return for its third consecutive year from March 14 to 16, 2025. The tournament will once again be held at the prestigious Sentosa Golf Club, offering a unique blend of top-class sports and entertainment against the backdrop of awe-inspiring scenery.
Participants will take on the challenge of the Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club, known for its panoramic views of the Singapore Strait and its technically demanding features. This par-71 course spans 6,691 meters and has been bestowed with the “World’s Best Golf Course” title at the World Golf Awards. The club is also recognized for its commitment to environmental sustainability, setting a benchmark in global golf circles.
The tournament follows the typical LIV Golf League format of 54 holes without a cut, spread across three days. Each day begins with a shotgun start, with all 54 participants teeing off simultaneously from different tees. Besides the individual competition, a team competition is also held, where 13 teams, each consisting of four players, compete for the collective title.
In its 2024 edition, the tournament saw Brooks Koepka and the Ripper GC team, led by Cam Smith, secure the individual and team titles respectively. Both are set to return in 2025 to defend their titles, joining the likes of Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, and Phil Mickelson in what promises to be a high-stakes competition.
