The Spanish golf icon claims the Hassan II Trophy in style, proving once again that age is just a number.
Some golfers fade with time—Miguel Ángel Jiménez only seems to get better with age. At 61 years old, the Spanish legend delivered a masterclass in clutch golf, securing a sensational victory at the Hassan II Tournament in Rabat, Morocco.
With a signature cigar in hand, a Lagavulin waiting to be poured, and the joy of competition still burning inside him, ‘El Pisha’ showed why he remains one of the most charismatic and enduring figures in the sport.
A Victory Sealed with an Iconic Eagle
Jiménez’s triumph came in epic fashion, breaking a deadlock with Steve Alker on the 17th hole—a short par 4 where the Spaniard reached the green in one before draining an eagle putt.
That stroke of brilliance separated him by two shots from the New Zealander, who could only manage a par. As the final hole wrapped up, Jiménez hoisted his 14th Champions Tour trophy, etching his name alongside golfing greats Tom Watson and Fred Couples.
Million-Dollar Man: Jiménez Cracks the All-Time Earnings List
With the $400,000 winner’s check, Jiménez surpassed $15 million in career earnings on the PGA Tour Champions, making him the sixth-highest earner in the history of the circuit.
Standing behind only a few legendary names—Bernhard Langer (47 career wins), Jay Haas (18), and Steve Stricker (18)—Jiménez is now the fourth-winningest active player on the senior tour.
And despite his age, he has no plans of slowing down.
“And I’m not going to stop,” Jiménez said, beaming with satisfaction after securing his first victory in two years.
“It was a tense day, but it’s a wonderful feeling. The truth is, the shot on 17 was really good. I wasn’t driving well, but on 16 I hit a really good one, and it gave me confidence.”
A Career Defined by Style and Substance
From his trademark ponytail to his laid-back yet competitive spirit, Miguel Ángel Jiménez has always been one of golf’s most unique personalities. His love for the finer things in life—fine wine, Cuban cigars, and great food—mirrors his approach to the game: enjoying every moment while still striving for greatness.
Now, at 61, he’s proving that golf is a game where experience, skill, and a little flair can still take you to the top.
With his dagger-shaped Hassan II trophy in one hand and a victory cigar in the other, Jiménez remains a true original in the world of golf—and as he made clear, he’s not done winning yet.
