Tennis superstar Serena Williams and her daughter, Olympia Ohanian, have attracted attention once again, this time by matching the energetic atmosphere at a recent LAGC match. The mother-daughter team, co-owners of Los Angeles’ LAGC, were seen enjoying the golf simulator competition held at SoFi Stadium.
In the weeks following her show-stealing Super Bowl LIX cameo, Williams was spotted at another major sports event, dancing and singing along to Jay-Z’s Empire State of Mind. Her elder daughter, Olympia, was also present, adding to the buzz in the spectator stands.
Following LAGC’s 5-4 victory over New York on February 24, Williams was seen celebrating the thrilling win. Her husband, Alexis Ohanian, captured the moment on video and shared it on his Instagram stories, expressing his excitement with the phrase, “Put it in my veins.”
It’s clear that golf holds a special place in the Ohanian family’s heart, with the patriarch once commenting, “Golf is a family thing!” His belief seems to be holding true, as Olympia has repeatedly demonstrated her interest in the sport. Both Williams and Ohanian have shared images and videos of Olympia’s golfing moments on social media, revealing her budding passion for the game.
Eagles teammates Avonte Maddox and Dallas Goedert were spotted in the stands alongside the Williams-Ohanian family. Olympia, who became a co-owner of LAGC at the tender age of five, is frequently seen attending the team’s matches, evidencing her deep-rooted association with the sport.
Interestingly, Williams has previously noted that Olympia doesn’t enjoy playing tennis as much, instead revealing, “My daughter plays golf.” Ohanian often assumes the role of “Daddy Caddy” during their family golf sessions, showing his active involvement in fostering his daughter’s interest. How does he assess her golfing prowess, though?
Ohanian has always been a staunch supporter of his daughter’s athletic pursuits. He regards Olympia as a future golfing sensation, even sharing an anecdote about her determination on the golf course. He noted, “Getting her into golf, she’ll totally whiff on a ball. And once she got so upset, she pulled the club up and was about to smash it. I was like, Olympia. She just casually put the thing down. I was like, oh, you got that Serena [Williams] in you.”
Ohanian’s Instagram feed also provides glimpses of Olympia’s golf training sessions, complete with her impressive swings. He has even shared the progress of a putting green being constructed at their home to nurture Olympia’s love for golf. When asked if he envisioned Olympia participating in future golf tournaments, he responded, “If she wants it she can be it.”
As for his own golfing skills, Ohanian admits he is still a learner, but proudly serves as Olympia’s caddy during their Sunday golf sessions.
The couple’s investment in LAGC is an extension of their love for golf. Ohanian said, “To wit, my wife Serena and I have enjoyed as Olympia’s taken a liking to golf, so I’m proud to announce that they’re both owners in this club as well — as is the little one on the way! This is another piece of the legacy I’m building for my family.”
However, when a major publication failed to mention Olympia’s co-owner status in a recent post, Ohanian was quick to rectify the oversight, a testament to the family’s love for the limelight. Could Olympia be the next big name in golf? Only time will tell.
