A star is born.
At just 23 years old, Yealimi Noh has secured her first LPGA Tour victory, delivering a dominant performance at the Founders Cup. Shooting an incredible 21-under-par, Noh left little doubt that her time has arrived.
While many expected Nelly Korda, Jin Young Ko, and other top contenders to shine, it was Noh who seized the moment, capitalizing on mistakes and showcasing an unwavering focus under pressure.
“This means so much to me,” Noh told Sky Sports.
“I worked really hard the past few years and went through a lot of struggles. I told myself 2025 is going to be my year, so this is the best way to start it.”
How Noh Took Control: Jin Young Ko’s Costly Mistakes
At one point, it looked like Jin Young Ko was on her way to victory. The former world No. 1 had momentum, sinking her third birdie on the par-5 eighth. But then, the wheels came off.
Two costly mistakes allowed Noh to capitalize, turning Ko’s errors into birdies and seizing the lead. From there, she never looked back.
“Being paired with Jin Young for the last two days, it was my first time playing with her [Saturday] and it was awesome to watch,” Noh said.
“I knew she wasn’t going to make any mistakes and be really solid. When I saw my opportunity and I kept it together, I was really proud of myself.”
Poised and confident, Noh’s game never wavered. While Ko struggled, the young American remained calm, closing out the tournament with a level of composure seen in seasoned champions.
