The 2023 San Francisco Giants weren’t a disaster, but their 79-83 record told the story of a team with many shortcomings.
Their offense was mediocre, ranking 24th in MLB with 674 runs scored.
They knew, as an organization, that they needed to bring in quality hitters if they wanted to keep up with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the San Diego Padres in the increasingly tough NL West.
It took a lot of time, money, and patience, but the Giants’ lineup looks better than what they had in 2023.

Basically, the Giants lost some power production when free-agent outfielder Joc Pederson decided to sign with the Diamondbacks.
However, they were able to bring in a contact master and table-setter in Jung Hoo Lee and a premier power hitter in Jorge Soler.
Lee is capable of hitting over .300 with solid on-base numbers, although he will be challenged: Korea’s KBO is definitely not the same as MLB.
Soler hit 36 home runs last year with the Miami Marlins.
He was very appealing to the Giants because he has no-doubt power, the kind that plays in every field in the league.
The lineup is actually very underrated from 1 through 7, and both Patrick Bailey and Marco Luciano have untapped offensive potential.
Perhaps the Giants aren’t as good as the Dodgers (no one is, at least in the division) or the D-Backs, but that doesn’t mean they can’t compete for a postseason spot if they make the right moves.
