The Los Angeles Dodgers re-signed Clayton Kershaw to a contract.
The terms aren’t still known, but LA’s favorite son is returning for at least one more year.
There is a catch, though: Kershaw underwent shoulder surgery in 2023 and is expected to miss at least the first half of the 2024 campaign.
Still, he has been so good for his entire career that the Dodgers are confident that even after major surgery, he will return to top form.
Not only that, but they are also willing to wait for him to return, probably around July.
With Kershaw (who posted a 2.46 ERA in limited action last year), here is how the Dodgers’ staff would look:

Per Talkin’ Baseball, Yoshinobu Yamamoto would be the ace.
The Dodgers agreed to pay him $325 million over the next 12 years to lead the rotation.
He is capable of big things, and has a career 1.82 ERA in seven seasons in Japan.
Walker Buehler, who missed the entire 2023 campaign recovering from elbow surgery, will return to the staff and contribute his usual top-notch production.
So will Kershaw, and trade acquisition Tyler Glasnow, who would be an ace on any other staff, is expected to be the fourth starter (!) once Kershaw is ready.
Bobby Miller, one of the best rookies in the National League last year, will round out the staff.
This exercise leaves out James Paxton, potentially Dustin May (he could come back from his own injury around the same time as Kershaw), and talented pitchers such as Michael Grove and Gavin Stone.
Oh, and Shohei Ohtani is expected to be ready to pitch in 2025.
The Dodgers are loaded, ladies and gentlemen.
