Geno Smith’s fairytale run was one of the biggest storylines of the 2022 NFL season.
But as we’ve seen countless times in this league, these stories don’t usually last long.
That seems to be the case with the Seattle Seahawks quarterback this season, and he’s been far from the player he was last year.
As shown by Dov Kleiman, Smith has regressed vastly from his career-best campaign last year, going from 1st to 17th in completion percentage, from 7th to 20th in total QBR, and from 10th to tied-20th in TD-INT ratio.
Smith had struggled to establish himself in the league earlier in his career, and he entered training camp last year competing with Drew Lock for the QB1 spot.

Against all odds, the veteran outplayed the youngster and didn’t only secure a starting spot, but also managed to get a huge payday in the offseason.
HC Pete Carroll has repeatedly reaffirmed his commitment to Smith going forward, and he does have a plethora of elite weapons in the passing game to be much better than he’s been.
But the harsh reality is that chances are that last season’s success was a fluke and not a trend.
Even so, the Seahawks are still in the mix for a playoff spot.
Their loss to the San Francisco 49ers all but ended their hopes of wining the division, but they should still make the postseason.
Of course, that’ll depend on whether Smith can turn back the clock and work his magic again like he did last season.
